I was raised on Florida’s Best Newspaper and dreamed of writing for it. I got my shot while at the University of South Florida, covering high school football and the weekend crime beat. I went on to cover the police, courts, business and sports beats. Now I’m an Assistant Metro Editor. I’m all about breaking news and deadline writing. Before I ended up behind an editor’s desk, I covered executions, hurricanes, wildfires, space shuttle launches and lots of football games. I have the honor of filing the last byline in the 113-year history of the St. Petersburg Times on Dec. 31, 2011, minutes before it became the Tampa Bay Times. Comic books get me through the pain of football season. Recently, I decided Superman > Batman.

Tarpon Springs officer quits after making mass shooting threat

The detective said he was joking. The Tarpon Springs Police Department said it would have fired him had he not resigned.

Sexual assault investigation of Clearwater nursing assistant expands

Former nursing assistant Falo Kane, 32, of Clearwater, faces seven counts of sexual battery of a physically helpless person. Clearwater police are now looking for more potential victims at other health care facilities. [Clearwater Police Department]  |  Clearwater Police Department
Falo Kane is accused of assaulting six patients at four facilities since 2016. Clearwater detectives want to know if there are other victims.
