Top things to do this weekend: Royal wedding watch parties, comic David Koechner

ROYAL WEDDING: Watch parties

Prince Harry marries Meghan Markle on Saturday; guess how excited we are to put on a fancy hat and drink champagne cocktails at 6 a.m.? With royal wedding excitement at a fever pitch, St. Petersburg’s Hawthorne Bottle Shop has already sold out patio seating for its watch party, but there were bar stools and tables inside available when we talked to co-owner Tegan Foster. Get dressed up and put on your fanciest hat. The doors open at 6 a.m. It’s $25, but a $100 table for four gets you two bottles of champagne and a platter of British breakfast foods. Reservations required. (727) 800-2810. 2921 Central Ave., St. Petersburg.

• At Jacks London Grill in St. Petersburg, the call is to "come dressed in your pajamas or dressed to attend a wedding." There will be a variety of English breakfast foods for sale and a wedding champagne peach mimosa ($4.99). Doors open at 6:30 a.m. 1050 62nd Ave. N, St. Petersburg. (727) 289-7170.

• The Pub at International Plaza will have a Royal Brunch starting at 6 a.m. Saturday, offering $3.25 Old Speckled Hen, drink specials and giveaways. 2223 N West Shore Blvd., Tampa.

• In Seminole Heights, the London Heights British Pub will be open at 6:30 a.m. offering bottomless mimosas, coffee, tea and pastries to watch the royal wedding. 7701 N Nebraska Ave., Tampa.

• Or, you can sleep in and catch a 10 a.m. screening at movie theaters of Harry & Meghan — The Royal Wedding. It’s the first time British royal nuptials have been shown on movie screens on the same day. Showing at Park Place 16 in Pinellas Park and Citrus Park 20 in Tampa. Reserve tickets at fathomevents.com.

• If you want to stay home and watch from the comfort of your own couch, go to the Couch Planner on Page 15 for channel listings and specials.

COMEDY: David Koechner

We loved to hate him as The Office boor Todd Packer and as the weirdly bi-curious Champ Kind from the Anchorman films. David Koechner currently stars on the CBS comedy Superior Donuts, and he’s bringing his standup comedy show to the Improv at Centro Ybor this weekend. Koechner, an alum of Chicago’s famous Second City comedy troupe, is a master at improv and uses audience interaction in his standup sets to create wildly different riffs at every show. 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday, 7:30 and 10 p.m. Saturday and 7 p.m. Sunday. $20. 1600 E Eighth Ave., Tampa. (813) 864-4000. improvtampa.com.

KIDS: Bubble Guppies and Peppa Pig

This is a great week for the kids to see their favorite TV stars in person, even if they happen to be fictional animated characters. Saturday brings Bubble Guppies Live to the Straz Center’s Carol Morsani Hall. Based on Nickelodeon’s Emmy-winning preschool series, the show can’t go on when one of the band members goes missing. 2 and 6 p.m. Saturday. $18.75-$83.75. strazcenter.org. Next Thursday, Peppa Pig Live takes the stage at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater. The British preschool sensation is one of the top-ranked series on Nick Jr., one that generates more than $1.2 billion in global retail sales per year. Peppa is a 4-year-old pig with a younger brother, George, and a variety of animal friends played by oversized puppets who do things like take a bath (bubbles find their way into the audience) and sing the show’s famous Bing Bong song. 6 p.m. May 24. $18.75-$43.25. rutheckerdhall.com.
