Top things to do in Tampa Bay for the week of July 9-15

SharkCon: It’s all about sharks this Saturday-Sunday at the Florida State Fairgrounds, with a touch tank, shark tooth dig pit, shark ride, marine rescue exhibits, STEM projects and shark dissection. Adding a comic con element this year are celebrity appearances by Richard Dreyfuss of Jaws and stars from Sharknado, Ian Ziering, Cassie Scerbo and Gena Lee Nolin. $14.95, $4.95 ages 3-13 (one day); $19.95, $7.50 children (two days). A special event, Jawing with Richard Dreyfuss happens on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. for an additional $49.99. Dreyfuss will delve into behind-the-scenes stories of the making of Jaws, with a video and photo montage. shark-con.com.

America II Extreme Mud Wars: It’s free to watch teams get down and dirty at St. Petersburg’s Lake Vista Park on Saturday. This wildly popular day of rolling in a mud pit and slinging dirt will have people competing in ultimate football, belly bumpers, dodge ball, tug-of-war, an obstacle course, joust pit, the eliminator and mud volleyball.. It’s free for spectators, with food trucks and a beer garden, but you can sign up to compete at extrememudwars.com.

Music: The Rock and Roll Express Tour comes through St. Pete’s Al Lang Stadium Wednesday featuring alt-rockers 3 Doors Down, Collective Soul and Soul Asylum ($49.50-265).
