UPDATE., 5:17: The Rays are expected to activate Chirinos over the weekend and use him at least initially in relief. ... Brandon Lowe will play in instructional league game on Saturday and is still hoping to show he is ready to come back for final week. ... D’Arnaud is catching again tonight given the offense he adds.

DEVELOPING: The Rays open their final homestand of the season tonight against the Red Sox tied for the second AL wild-card spot with Cleveland at 90-63.

The Rays will have Charlie Morton on the mound, with Travis d’Arnaud behind the plate and Matt Duffy at third base as Eric Sogard is apparently still not ready. The Sox are starting Rick Porcello.
