1. One thing we know for sure about Rays rookie infielder Mike Brosseau — he sure likes to hit against the Orioles. The home run Brosseau hit Saturday was his sixth of the season, and his fifth against Baltimore. Also, eight of his 16 RBIs are against the Orioles.

2. Austin Pruitt has literally had the most up-and-down season of any Ray, his promotion from Triple A to pitch in Saturday’s game his ninth call this season. That he struggled was a bit surprising because he’d done well of late, but also understandable given the circumstances. He got off to a good start with a double play to get out of the first, but loading the bases on two 0-2 hits and an 0-2 to 4-2 walk spelled doom.

3. The Rays go into play today against the Orioles completing the soft part of their schedule, their 21st straight game against teams with losing records. They are 13-7 after Saturday’s loss. It gets harder in a hurry from here as their next two series are against the Astros and Indians, and they also have series with the Dodgers, Red Sox and Yankees.
