Jordan Fair says he is clear of any NCAA wrongdoing

Jordan Fair, the former Louisville assistant who was fired 10 months ago amid the FBI's probe into NCAA basketball corruption, said he has not been indicted and his termination without cause was never linked to an investigation.

A social media post this week said Fair had been cleared by the NCAA, allowing the former Oldsmar Christian coach to return to coaching on the high school and AAU circuits.

But Fair said Thursday that he has always been exonerated.

"I have no pending NCAA infractions," Fair said via a direct message on Twitter. "I am not a subject or target of any investigation."

Since "parting ways" with the Cardinals, Fair has been helping out at Oldsmar Christian and started coaching with Team Breakdown, an AAU program.

Fair was one of two Louisville assistants placed on paid administrative leave by the university in October  during the NCAA's investigation into violations of wire fraud and money laundering with elite recruits.

The investigation led to the dismissal of head coach Rick Pitino and athletic director Tom Jurich. Fair and the other assistant, Kenny Johnson, were not named in the FBI complaint and have not been charged with any wrongdoing.

The connection between Louisville and Pitino was made Sept. 26 in court documents with an alleged scheme to funnel $100,000 to the family of five-star recruit Brian Bowen Jr.. The deal was brokered by Adidas executive Jim Gatto to get Bowen to sign with the Cardinals, an Adidas-backed school.

The FBI documents mention two unnamed Louisville staffers, "Coach-1" and "Coach-2," who are involved in the corruption scheme. The names have not been made public.

A clause in Fair's contract allowed the athletic director to fire Fair "at-will and without cause" with 30 days' notice.

Fair was a four-year starter at Oldsmar Christian before going on to play at North Florida (2008-09) and Lee University (2009-10). He returned to his alma mater as an assistant in 2010-11 before taking over as coach the following seasons.

In four seasons, Fair led the program to a 115-32 record. He was named the Sunshine Independent Athletic Association coach of the year in 2015.
