Florida State's 2019 signing class got a boost Friday when the Seminoles announced the addition of five-star defensive back Akeem Dent as an early enrollee.
"As a staff, we are happy to have Akeem here for the spring semester to begin his FSU career," coach Willie Taggart said. "He is an important piece of this signing class and will be a major building block for our program moving forward. Akeem is fast, physical and aggressive – three accolades we want all of our defensive players to have. His heart is immeasurable, and his desire combined with his physical abilities fit perfectly with the culture of our program."
Dent is the only five-star recruit in the Seminoles' class, which sits No. 17 nationally. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound athlete from Palm Beach Central High is a top-40 national prospect and 247Sports' No. 5 player in the state. He also held offers from Alabama, Clemson and Miami, among others.
Dent committed to FSU in July 2017 but was not among the Seminoles' initial December signees.
