Why were lanes closed on the Courtney Campbell Causeway?

The lane closures were part of other larger projects. An $8.3 million project to replace the existing lighting system and install six new traffic monitoring cameras and 12 vehicle detection devices to help traffic engineers manage traffic flow on the Causeway between McMullen Booth Road and Rocky Point is expected to be complete by next spring. A $12 million project to build a new bridge west of the Ben T. Davis beach to improve water circulation and quality is expected to be complete this summer.

Updates:

•58th and 59th avenues N from 44th Street to 46th Street will see lane closures until Aug. 31 due to drainage improvements.

•Belleair Road from Belcher Road to S Fort Harrison Avenue will see lane closures until Oct. 30 due to drainage improvements.
