Man, 90, dies following crash at St. Petersburg intersection

A 90-year-old man died Monday from injuries he sustained in a crash at the intersection of 62nd Ave. N and 1st Street, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

The man was driving westbound on 62nd Ave around 6 p.m. Sunday when he ran a red light, police said. His 2005 Lincoln sedan crashed into a 2017 Toyota pickup truck traveling northbound on 1st Street N and making a left turn onto 62nd Ave.

The man was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where he died at 3:35 a.m. Monday.

His name is being withheld as police attempt to notify his next of kin.
