SPRING HILL — State troopers have released a video recording of the moment when a car plowed into the front of a Spring Hill Beef O’Brady’s restaurant on Tuesday afternoon, seriously injuring the driver and five customers.

The video from inside the restaurant shows two people eating at a window table as the dark 2007 Saturn sedan crashes into them, coming to rest with most of the vehicle inside.

In releasing the video Thursday, the Florida Highway Patrol said troopers still are working to determine how the driver lost control. The restaurant reopened Thursday.

The crash occurred about 1:40 p.m. Tuesday in the Beef O’Brady’s at the Barclay Crossing Shopping Center at Spring Hill Drive and Barclay Avenue.

The Saturn was traveling east on Spring Hill Drive when the 63-year-old woman at the wheel lost control and it traveled over the roadway median and the westbound lanes, the Highway Patrol said.

The Saturn then left the roadway, traveled onto the shoulder, through a flower bed, and side-swiped a Ford F-150 pickup towing a trailer that was exiting the shopping center parking lot.

The Saturn continued through the parking lot and struck a parked Hyundai Elantra then plowed into the front of the restaurant.

One person was flown in a helicopter to Bayonet Point Hospital Trauma Center while two others were transported there by ambulance. Another person was transported to Oak Hill Hospital and two were sent to Bayfront Hospital Brooksville, officials said.

The five restaurant customers injured were sitting inside and outside, the Highway Patrol said.
