CLEARWATER — A 15-month-old girl was found unconscious in a pool in Clearwater late Monday, police said.

The toddler was listed in critical condition Tuesday morning at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital in Tampa.

The incident was reported at about 8:20 p.m. Monday. Here's what police say happened:

Family and friends at a house in the 1900 block of Douglas Avenue were in an enclosed pool area, then went inside to prepare for dinner. A rear sliding glass door was inadvertently left open, police said, just enough for the toddler to get through into the pool area and fall into the water.

The toddler's 7-year-old sister pulled her out of the pool, but the girl was unresponsive. Family members started CPR and called 911.
