PINELLAS PARK — A motorcycle driver who had been speeding and making repeated lane changes died when he collided with an SUV making a U-turn, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

James Paul Stewart 32, of Clearwater, was driving east on Park Boulevard when he collided with the westbound SUV as it was completing a U-turn at 73rd Street, the Highway Patrol said.

The motorcycle had been speeding and making lane changes before the crash, a witness told troopers.

Stewart, driving a 2014 Suzuki motorcycle, laid down the motorcycle and slid along the roadway before he was ejected, troopers said.

He collided with a 2010 Cadillac SRX driven by Alek Michael Lupo, 18, of Safety Harbor, troopers said.

No charges have been filed. An investigation is continuing.
