TAMPA — A 15-year-old Robinson High School student was arrested Tuesday, accused of making a threat on social media, according to the Tampa Police Department.

The boy had posted more than one Instagram message threatening to shoot up the school, police spokesman Stephen Hegarty said. One of the posts included a picture of a pellet gun.

The boy is in police custody and faces charges of making a false report concerning the use of a firearm in a violent matter. A student brought the threat to the attention of school administrators this morning, school district spokeswoman Tanya Arja said.

The school, at 6311 S Lois Ave., was initially placed on lock down, meaning students had to stay in their classrooms. Later, the status was changed to lock-in, allowing classes to resume with restricted movement on campus.
