NEW PORT RICHEY — As if it were Medieval Times, a Pasco County man tried to end an argument with a sword, deputies said.

William Mendenhall, 43, of New Port Richey, is accused of aggravated domestic battery and assault against a woman who was 21 weeks pregnant, according to a Pasco County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.

Mendenhall was arrested Wednesday afternoon.

The two began arguing over a bicycle and it escalated when Mendenhall picked up a 3-foot metal sword to slash a tent set up in a side yard at an address in New Port Richey, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The address was not listed in the report.

The woman tried to stop him, the Sheriff’s Office said, but he pushed her, threatened to slice her with the sword and chased her into a residence.
