CLEARWATER ― More allegations that an ex-nursing assistant sexually assaulted older patients have come to light, according to police.
Falo Kane, 32, was arrested Monday on four counts of sexual battery of a physically helpless person for attacks that police said took place in health care facilities where he worked over the past three years.
Now three more counts of sexual battery of a physically helpless person were added to that total, Clearwater police announced Wednesday. Kane, who also faces a charge of violating his probation, remains held in the Pinellas County jail without bail.
The new charges stem from attacks that police said took place at Advanced Care Center, 401 Fairwood Ave. Kane is accused of sexually assaulting a woman there on Sept. 5. The latest allegations involve new victims, but police did not say how many or when those attacks took place. An administrator for the facility could not be reached for comment.
The allegations against Kane recently came to light when a health care facility ― police have not said which ― reported that one of its patients had been assaulted. Kane was questioned by detectives on Monday and confessed to four assaults, police said. He even wrote a letter of apology addressed to all four victims. He was unemployed when he was arrested.
The first of those four incidents took place on May 13, 2016, when an arrest report said he assaulted a patient at Comprehensive Health Care Facility, 2055 Palmetto St., No. 213. Then on Aug. 22, 2016, he assaulted a patient at the Clearwater Center, 1270 Turner St., according to an arrest report.
There were two alleged assaults this year: March 25 at Glen Oaks Health and Rehabilitation Center, 1110 Pine St. and Sept. 5 at Advanced Care Center, 401 N. Fairwood Ave.
Among the victims, police said, was an older woman left disabled by a stroke and another woman using a wheelchair. In two of the four incidents, Kane was changing patients’ adult diapers, police said.
Clearwater police continue to urge anyone with information about Kane or other incidents to call them at (727) 562-4242.
