The summer reprieve in gas prices is continuing.
After flirting near the $3 mark, Tampa Bay gas prices fell another six cents a gallon over the past week to an average of $2.65 for unleaded, a wide gap with the national average of $2.91 a gallon, according to gas price tracker GasBuddy. In Tampa Bay, that’s still about 46 cents per gallon higher than a year ago, GasBuddy reported based on daily surveys.
AAA, The Auto Club Group, ranked the Tampa Bay area’s gas price averages among the least expensive in the state, along with Orlando ($2.66) and Punta Gorda ($2.65).
In Florida last week, gas prices fell almost five cents per gallon to $2.75 on Monday, according to AAA.
Mark Jenkins, a spokesman for AAA, said in a news release that gas prices are expected to drop another five to 10 cents this week.
