News at noon: The latest on the Florida recounts; how to get your Hamilton tickets; and more

Here are the top five latest headlines and updates on tampabay.com:

CLOSER AND CLOSER: SCOTT LEADS BY .18 PERCENT, DESANTIS BY .44

Three statewide elections in Florida are all close enough to require machine recounts, and two of them would require hand recounts of ballots, based on the latest results posted by the state Friday. With Broward still counting early and mail ballots and Palm Beach County still counting mail ballots, Gov. Rick Scott holds a lead of .18 percent over Sen. Bill Nelson, or 15,074 votes. Republican Ron DeSantis holds a lead of .44 percent over Democrat Andrew Gillum in the election for governor, or 36,211 votes. Here's the latest on the vote totals.

HAMILTON TICKETS GO ON SALE IN TAMPA NEXT WEEK. HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Immediately after announcing it had booked Hamilton, the David A. Straz Jr. Center for the Performing Arts had to revise its automated phone greeting. Fans calling about Hamilton could press 1. Everyone wanted to know when tickets were going on sale. That date has now arrived. Here are the details.

HERE'S WHAT THE FLORIDA LEGISLATURE LOOKS LIKE AFTER THE 2018 ELECTIONS

With Florida potentially looking at weeks of recounts and legal disputes, the dust hasn't quite settled on the 2018 elections. But we do know (roughly) what the Florida Legislature will look like during the 2019 Legislative Session. Despite some Democratic gains in the House and Senate, both chambers will be controlled by Republicans. Kirby Wilson offers an overview.

WHAT THE FLORIDA MIDTERMS TELL US ABOUT PAYING FOR OUR ECONOMIC PRIORITIES

There’s a lot to unpack from the midterms, business columnist Graham Brink writes. Will the recounts change the outcome of any of the statewide races? Can polling find a better model, one that predicts the actual winners? Will felons who have served their sentences really get their voting rights back? He'll leave those to the political experts. Instead, he's getting his head around what the results tell us about our economic priorities and how we want to pay for them. Here are three takeaways:

LOOK INSIDE THE NEW TARGET: SIX STORES HAVE BEEN OVERHAULED IN TAMPA BAY

The Super Target on Gulf to Bay Boulevard is lining its back walls with artificial Christmas trees. A special Hanukkah shop welcomes guests as they walk through the sliding glass doors. Chatter about Black Friday deals is already in the air, as shoppers flip through ads and rummage clearance racks. But it’s more than the shift of shopping seasons inside the 180,000-square-foot store that has changed its atmosphere. Over the last year, the entire store has been done over. It’s one of six in the greater Tampa Bay area to get a major face lift before the close of 2018 — and one of the 1,000 the retailer promises to renovate by the end of 2020.
