Four years ago, when husband and wife duo Brad and Tammy Cochran opened their first Chicken Salad Chick location on Fowler Avenue, they didn't quite know what to expect.
Owning and operating a restaurant was new for them. Brad Cochran worked in marketing and sales and Tammy Cochran worked in information technology for Media General.
But now, the couple feel confident they’re getting the hang of it. In addition to the Fowler Avenue location, they have a Chicken Salad Chick in Lutz, a South Tampa location opening on Wednesday, and yet another coming later this year to Brandon.
"We feel like we're on track now," said co-owner Brad Cochran.
"We've met a lot of people and it truly worked out well for us. When you know that you are supported by your customer base, it gives you the opportunity to do anything."
Chicken Salad Chick is known for its variety of homemade, Southern-style chicken salad sandwiches with flavors like the Fancy Nancy, Nutty Nana and the Fruity Fran. And their new South Tampa menu will be no different.
The Cochrans took over the former Lennie's Subs spot at 4050 W Kennedy Blvd. and expanded it to 2,700 square feet.
Brad Cochran is excited about the new location and believes it provides a greater opportunity for their catering service.
"I think the demographics here are very, very good for our concept," he said.
Aside from its chicken salad sandwiches, the restaurant also serves fresh side salads, gourmet soups, turkey club and turkey pesto sandwiches, and desserts all under $10.
Chicken Salad Chick will hold its grand opening on Wednesday and operates from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
