Tampa Theatre revealed today the lineup of movies for this year’s Summer Classics series.
Among the more notable screenings are 2009’s The Blind Side, featuring a question and answer session with actor Quinton “Big Mike” Aaron who played the lead character based on real-life athlete Michael Oher. Proceeds will go to Quinton’s charity, which works with children and students who are bullied.
This year’s silent film is 1929’s Safety Last!, which will bring back renowned organist Steven Ball on the theater’s “Mighty Wurlitzer” organ. Ball scored and played during last summer’s sold-out screening of Metropolis.
And if you’re looking to get interactive, there are two Mary Poppins sing-along screenings on July 28 and 29, which might be a nice refresher before the new Marry Poppins starring Emily Blunt and Lin-Manuel Miranda comes out later this year.
All other Summer Classics screenings take place Sundays at 3 p.m. from June 3 through Sept. 2. Tickets are $10 for regular films and $13 for Safety Last and Mary Poppins. Tickets are available at the theater’s box office at 711 N Franklin St. or tampatheatre.org.
