It’s a good day to be a hip-hop fan in Tampa.

The University of South Florida has announced Atlanta rapper Gunna (Drip Too Hard with Lil Baby, Travis Scott’s Yosemite) will headline its annual homecoming concert on Oct. 10 at the Yuengling Center. Pop singer Bryce Vine is also on the bill. Student tickets are on sale now for $10. Tickets for alumni and staff ($20) and the general public ($25) go on sale Sept. 23. Click here for details.

The concert announcement rounds out USF’s Homecoming week schedule, which also includes a free comedy show by Michelle Buteau on Oct. 7; a carnival, parade and talent showcase on Oct. 11; and the USF-Brigham Young University football game on Oct. 12 at Raymond James Stadium. Also announced on Thursday, a concert by rapper NF on May 1 at the Yuengling Center. Tickets are $35 and up and go on sale Sept. 27. Click here for details.

The Michigan rapper with the Christian background and Eminem-like style has played here a couple of times in the last year or so, including at December’s 93.3-FLZ Jingle Ball. But his last two albums, 2017′s Perception and this summer’s The Search, have both debuted at No. 1 on the charts, bumping him up to arena-level headliner status.

For both Gunna and NF, booking the Yuengling Center marks quite a leap up in society. Their last headlining shows in Tampa Bay both took place at the Ritz Ybor — Gunna in May and NF in early 2018. Were we ever so young?
